Vehicle System Forensics
iVe (ˈīvē) is a vehicle system forensic tool that acquires user data from vehicles, and allows forensic examiners and investigators a means to quickly and intuitively analyze it. Vehicle infotainment and telematics systems store a vast amount of data such as recent destinations, favorite locations, call logs, contact lists, SMS messages, emails, pictures, videos, social media feeds, and the navigation history of everywhere the vehicle has been. Many systems record events such as when and where a vehicle’s lights are turned on, which doors are opened and closed at specific locations, and even where the vehicle is when Bluetooth devices connect.
iVe currently supports BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, FIAT, Ford, GMC, HUMMER, Jeep, Lincoln, Maserati, Mercury, Pontiac, Ram, SRT, and Saturn vehicles and is rapidly expanding its acquisition and decoding capabilities. The hardware and software currently supports extracting data via logical and physical acquisitions from over 3400 different models of vehicles. It can decode data from infotainment and telematics systems and reveal quintessential data in an investigation.
iVe directly interfaces with vehicle systems via specially-designed hardware. It can acquire a full or partial binary image and decode the data. It can recover deleted information from either image type. iVe can decode and parse data such as.
